About

I started this blog because I needed it and it did not exist yet.

Not a wellness blog that performs calm it does not feel. Not a travel blog that makes every destination look like the best version of itself. Not a professional life blog written in the detached voice of someone observing from a safe distance.

I needed the blog written by a woman who works a demanding full-time career and builds things on the side and travels alone to places that make her nervous and cooks for her gut and her soul at the same time and is somewhere in the honest, unglamorous middle of figuring all of it out.

Since that blog did not exist, I built it.

Who I Am

My name is Electra. I am a writer by nature and a traveller by deliberate choice.

I live in Cape Town, South Africa, which is simultaneously one of the most beautiful cities in the world and one of the most complicated. I grew up in a rural village. I have lived in Johannesburg, the Eastern Cape, Tbilisi in Georgia, and now Cape Town. I have spent extended time in London, Bangkok, Bali, Singapore, and elsewhere. I am 10 countries into a goal of 40 countries before I turn 40.

I have been writing and publishing since I was young enough that the writing predated almost everything else. I have over 18 published titles across personal development, nonfiction, memoir, and workplace writing. The most important of them are on the Books page.

I am also a founder. I build things. Pay Circle, a South African community savings platform. Feral and Feeling, this publication. The building is ongoing and imperfect and I write about it honestly.

Why Feral and Feeling

Feral: wild in the way that something is wild when it has been domesticated for too long and finally returned to its nature. Not dangerous. Just true.

Feeling: because I feel things deeply and I stopped apologising for it. Because the feeling is where the writing comes from. Because the women I most respect in the world are not the ones who have learned to feel less. They are the ones who have learned to feel fully and act deliberately.

Feral and Feeling is the space where I write about living fully, working well, eating right, going places, and taking care of the whole person I am, not just the parts that are easy to present.

Everything on this blog is real. The juice I drink every morning. The 40-country goal I am working toward. The workplace dynamics I write about from the inside of them. The healing that is slow and not linear and ongoing.

Nothing here is curated for effect. This is the real version.

What This Blog Covers

Food that heals from the inside out. Gut health, plant-forward cooking, juices, and the relationship between what you eat and how you feel, think, and live.

Travel that changes you. Solo travel, city guides written from the inside of the experience, the 40-countries-before-40 journey documented in real time, and the deeper question of what it means to know a place rather than just visit it.

Wellness that is honest about how hard it can be. Mental health, gut health, sleep, movement, and the small daily practices that add up to something real when nothing dramatic has yet shifted.

Home as sanctuary. Creating spaces that feel like yours, on any budget, in any situation, because where you live shapes how you live more than most people acknowledge.

Beauty with substance. Korean skincare, clean beauty, and the honest relationship between what you put in your body and what you see in the mirror.

Professional life in full complexity. For the ambitious woman navigating a workplace that was not built for her. Burnout, boundaries, career, and the things nobody says out loud in the meeting but everyone is thinking.

Books. Because there is always a book for the exact thing you are going through.

My Background

I have been writing and publishing for most of my adult life. I have built and launched multiple products. I have built audience platforms, managed creative projects across multiple disciplines, and navigated the specific complexity of being a Black woman doing ambitious things in South Africa.

I am currently building Pay Circle, a fintech application designed for South African community savings groups.

I tell you this not to impress but to give you a sense of who is writing to you. The wellness content comes from someone who understands burnout firsthand. The professional life content comes from someone inside the machine. The travel content comes from someone who is building the life she wants to live, one country at a time.

The 40 Countries Goal

I am 10 countries in: South Africa, Cyprus, Thailand (three times), Azerbaijan, Georgia, the United Kingdom, Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia.

Seoul, South Korea is next. November 2026.

The full list, the story behind the goal, and every destination as I reach it lives in the Travel section. Follow along.
